Hey, It's Me...
Your photographer from Rune&Rook.
I'm Samantha, the artist behind the lens. I've been a lifelong picture taker who decided to make it a career. I'm a devoted wife and loving mother to the world's cutest kids. Born and raised in Lancaster, PA. I love to travel so I've moved around the United States a bit before returning to my roots. Rune&Rook is my photography journey. It's my path to self-love and creative expression all wrapped up into a perfect little package. My goal is to turn this new path into a sustainable full time career and create a exciting adventurous life for my two littles. To accomplish this I've poured all my passion, love and creativity into bringing self love, confidence and exploration to the people of my little town in Lancaster, PA.
So what's brought me to Photography? I've held quite a few careers in my life, all in public service. I realized that I find others who need something, whatever that is, and I meet them right where they are in life. That's why after so many years, of in and out of jobs, I decided to begin this journey, to be my own boss. Not only as a challenge for myself but to capture others on their own journey with timeless photographs. And surround myself with inspiring moments that allow me to engage with my inner creative expression. I want to inspire others around me and build a community of models, photographers and other creatives to be our best creative selves.
So what is Rune&Rook? I get this question a lot. Rune&Rook are the anchor words of my photography journey. The "Rune" in history has been commonly used as a guide to help one discover what they have always known. Runes have been used as gifts, letters, and powerful spiritual relics. They say when one carves a Rune by hand they imbue it with their life energy, creating something meaningful and powerful to them. The "Rook" on the other hand is most commonly known as a chess piece but it also represents a bird. In chess, the Rook is boxed in at the start of the game but becomes more mobile and dangerous as the game progresses (almost like our journey through life). The Rook as a bird is also a spirit animal associated with life mysteries and magic, destiny, personal transformation, a higher perspective, and adaptability. The Rook is pack oriented, understanding the need for support when dealing with adversity. This photography journey I started is a long road. A road that will need the support of my friends and family (like the Rook) and will ultimately lead me to self-transformation. I'll create images that will last a lifetime as a gift to you, imbuing my energy into each one, just like a Rune.
