Booked a Session? Now what...
You've done it. You've booked a session with me or any other boudoir photographer.
The first thing running through your mind is probably "Am I ready for this?". I'm here to tell you that you totally are!
But there are a few tips to help you prepare for your boudoir session.
Get in the right state of mind with a little self care.
Boudoir is an empowering and confidence boosting experience. It can be nerve-wracking at first but seeing the transformation of each and every woman I work with is the reason I love my job. That being said, the process starts with your headspace before the session. The week before your appointment, start your self care. Go get your nails done, get a trim or fresh haircut or maybe get a wax. Whatever you're comfortable with and whatever makes you feel a little pampered. Doing things for yourself that gives your body a little self love will give a little jump start to your session by giving you a little confidence boost. This boost will help with the negative self talk we all have sometimes. So clear some of that negative headspace and replace it with a little self love.
Build some inspiration
Maybe you know a friend that did a boudoir shoot. Or maybe you don't. Take a second to either talk with that friend about their experience or look into boudoir type things on Pinterest, Google or Instagram. You can never really be TOO prepared for your shoot. It's good to have an idea of the types of poses you possibly want to try or maybe some detail shots you don't want your photographer to miss. That being said, don't go into your shoot with the mindset that you are going to replicate those images to a T. You aren't. Your experience with be unique and your photographer is unique. The inspiration you are looking for during your research is exactly that... inspiration. Period.
Find YOUR sexy pants
Everyone has those points on their body they would rather hide then flaunt. No biggie. If you are more conservative and want to show less skin, find a pretty satin robe, button up shirt, daisy dukes or an oversized sweater to bring along to your session. If you are a lacy sweet lingerie type of gal, bring multiple sets in various colors. Or maybe you are perfectly fine prancing around in your birthday suit... Whatever your comfort level, you can bring clothing items or accessories to your session that fit your comfort but also will be sexy in your own unique way.
THE BIG DAY
The day of your session is the most important prep day. Today you need to eat, drink plenty of water and find those jams on the radio that make you want to dance. Please don't starve yourself because you don't want to bloat. That's not practicing good self care and honestly no photographer wants someone passing out on them during the session. Posing is harder then it looks and you'll need the energy. Another tip is to wear loose fitting clothing at least an hour before your session, so there isn't many indentation marks on your skin. One last note, arrive at your session ON TIME. No need to be extravagantly early but you shouldn't be making your photographer wait for you either.
These are just some of my preparation tips I slide over to my clients DMs after booking.
