Let me say this as a woman who has photographed hundreds of bodies in lace, sheets, and absolutely nothing at all: getting ready for a boudoir session is less about “fixing” yourself and more about setting the mood—for you.
First things first: hydrate. Water is the cheapest glow-up there is. Drink it like it’s your job for a few days before your session. Your skin will thank you, and so will the camera.
Next—sleep. I know, easier said than done. But a well-rested woman hits different. Puffy eyes don’t stand a chance against eight hours and a little under-eye love.
Let’s talk grooming. Do what makes you feel sexy, not what you think you’re “supposed” to do. Shave, wax, trim, or rock it natural—confidence photographs better than any razor ever will. Just don’t try anything brand new the night before. Boudoir is not the time for surprise razor burn.
Moisturize like you’re marinating. Lotion, body oil, whatever smells like confidence to you—just skip anything with shimmer unless we’ve planned for it. I want glow, not disco ball.
Outfits? Bring options. Lace, silk, oversized button-downs, cozy knits, killer heels, bare feet—it all works. If you feel good in it, it will look good. Period. And yes, remove tight bras or socks at least an hour before your session. No one needs surprise indentations stealing the spotlight.
The most important prep tip? Show up as yourself. Nervous, excited, laughing too much—that’s all part of it. You don’t need to know how to pose. That’s my job. Your job is to breathe, trust, and let yourself be seen.
Because boudoir isn’t about becoming someone else.
It’s about showing up as the version of you that already knows she’s irresistible.
